Rancho San Julian has been raising cattle of the past 200 years. First held by the Spanish crown and then deeded as a land grant to Jose De La Guerra, the commandant of the Santa Barbara Presidio, in 1837, it has been in the same family ever since.

Six generations later, Jim Poett founded Rancho San Julian Cattle company on the day his first child, Elizabeth, was born, with the idea of producing high quality beef from cattle humanely and healthfully raised on the sustainable ranch.

One of the first organic beef producers in California, Jim stopped selling his beef commercially in the late 1990s in order to focus on improving and expanding his herd. His efforts payed, and in 2007, Rancho San Julian received the Champion Breeder Award in the Market Beef Carcass class at the Santa Barbara County Fair. Simply put: they raise the best beef in the county.

Today, daughter Elizabeth is a full time member of the San Julian cattle team, and she is accepting orders for monthly packages of 10 lbs. of San Julian Beef, that will be delivered frozen at convenient local pick-up locations.

Vaquero Style ranch packages, encompassing a variety of chuck, brisket, or round cuts are $8.00/lb, and Patron Style packages, composed of a variety of prime cuts, are $17.00/lb.
